ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROLS
Sogliano Ambiente develops and performs environmental matrix monitoring and performs monitoring of the environment affected by the plants. This is done using innovative methods, chosen in agreement with the control bodies, to determine any interaction with the surrounding environment and prevent any form of pollution.
The goal is to control how the landfill affects the surrounding ecosystem, ensuring full protection of the environment as well as the health of workers and the surrounding population and the system used complies with the industry’s technical standards. It also monitors additional environmental aspects which careful site - and activity-related environmental analysis have proven to be particularly meaningful (one example of this is the use of bioindicators).
All environmental controls are described in detail in the Surveillance and control plan drawn up in compliance with the new decree on waste landfills (It.Leg.Dec. 36/03).

Environmental control plan
The Environmental control plan defines the contents of environmental controls along with how they are performed, checked and how the results are analyzed. The Plan also contains indication of the parties involved, how they are defined and qualified and the assigned responsibilities.
It is therefore an integral, fundamental part of the landfill management, providing elements for evaluation of the results achieved and indications for how they can be improved. Therefore, it is configured as an Environmental Management System instrument, as per EMAS 761/2001.
In order to ensure that the contents of the Plan are precise and appropriate, also as regards the ongoing results and evolution in current knowledge, a 6-member Scientific Technical Committee (STC) has been set up with members who come from outside the company and who have proven experience, professionals in the field
