Projects for the local area
Shared energy, new green spaces, environmental education
The value generated by Sogliano Ambiente takes the form of tangible projects for those living and working in Valle dell’Uso: a renewable energy community open to residents and businesses, parks and walking trails that will transform the landscape of Sogliano, and a programme that enables schools to discover first-hand what turning waste into a resource means.
Renewable Energy Community
A Renewable Energy Community (REC) unites citizens, businesses and local authorities that produce and consume energy from renewable sources and exchange it via the electricity grid. Energy produced but not immediately consumed by those generating it is shared with other members. This leads to financial incentives, reduced reliance on fossil fuels and a stronger bond between people and the local area.
The Municipality of Sogliano al Rubicone has launched its own REC thanks to regional funding dedicated to the development of energy communities. Sogliano Ambiente was one of the key players in its establishment.

Sogliano Ambiente’s contribution
To make the community operational, Sogliano Ambiente has made available the 60 kW photovoltaic system installed on the roof of its headquarters in Via della Resistenza. Thanks to this system, the REC can share energy with its members and accept new members, including those not from within the municipal area.
This step is consistent with the company’s history: for years it has been producing renewable energy from biogas and solar power and is now making it directly available to the community.

Environmental Compensation Projects
The construction of the new Ginestreto 3 plant involves a programme of measures agreed with local authorities. The aim is to return more to the local area than the industrial activity uses: new woodland, equipped public spaces and cycle routes linking the towns in the valley.
Parco della Pietra
Former quarry transformed into a public leisure space. The former Ponte Rosso quarry will be reclaimed using excavated material from the G3 construction site – approximately 900,000 m³ – and reforested with 8,000 broad-leaved trees across 3 hectares. Once work is complete, the park will be donated to the local council and will become part of the public heritage. The new park will feature:
- a 5,000 m² picnic area with stone barbecues
- woodland trails linked to the CAI network and the Cammino di San Vicinio
- a fitness trail
- e-bike charging points
Vitruviano Nature Park
A new green space on the outskirts of the town. A 2-hectare project to reforest and maintain the existing woodland with 280 new trees, a botanical trail and a cycle and footpath. The park will improve the area’s integration into the landscape and offer residents a place to walk and learn about the local flora.
Valle dell’Uso Cycle Route
From the hills to the sea, along the river. Sogliano Ambiente is contributing to the design of a new cycle route stretching almost 29 km along the Uso Valley. The route will link five towns, from Sogliano al Rubicone to Santarcangelo di Romagna via Borghi and Poggio Torriana, and will connect with the other cycle and footpaths planned along the river.
School Projects
a dialogue with local schools
Understanding what happens to an old mobile phone or a solar panel when it stops working is easier if you see it with your own eyes. With this in mind, Sogliano Ambiente and the Sogliano al Rubicone State Comprehensive School have launched “Together for the Planet”. The environmental education programme began in the 2025/2026 academic year and involves pupils from Sogliano al Rubicone, Borghi and Roncofreddo.

A two-stage programme
During class, at the Spazio Sogliano Ambiente Auditorium:
girls and boys learn about the company and take part in interactive activities organised by Atlantide, a co-operative specialising in environmental education.
At the facility, the Ponte Uso WEEE plant:
students follow the journey of electronic waste first-hand, from collection and material separation right through to its return to production cycles.
The topic of the first edition: WEEE
The first year was dedicated to waste from electrical and electronic equipment: why it must be disposed of correctly and which valuable materials can be recovered from it. A special focus was placed on photovoltaic panels, which the Sogliano Ambiente plant is one of the few in Italy capable of processing.
After the first edition, the project will be repeated in the coming school years.
