For Sogliano Ambiente, sustainability is not an obligation, but a choice:
we measure our impact to generate shared environmental, social and economic value.
Environmental Impact
Sogliano Ambiente continuously monitors its emissions and consumption, adopting technologies and management practices aimed at reducing its environmental impact over time.
The Environmental Management System, which complies with the UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 standard and is recognised through EMAS registration, ensures annual audits and comprehensive monitoring of all facilities.
Managed Waste
In 2025, a total of 225,643 tonnes of waste were managed, of which 46% was sent for recovery and the remaining 54% for final disposal at landfills: an increase compared to the 41% in 2024, reflecting a model increasingly focused on resource recovery.
Emissions
Direct emissions (Scope 1) amounted to 11,589 tCO₂e, whilst indirect emissions (Scope 2, market-based) totalled 1,237 tCO₂e. In addition to CO₂e emissions, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and particulate matter are also reported, to ensure a comprehensive record of air quality around the facilities.
Self-generated energy
56% of the electricity used by Sogliano Ambiente comes from renewable sources thanks to self-generation via photovoltaic installations and biogas-fuelled combined heat and power systems. In 2025, 11.9% of the energy produced was used on-site, with the remainder fed into the grid.
Biodiversity
Promoting local flora through the greenhouse propagation of native plants intended for the landscape restoration of those areas close to operational sites.

Value for the local area
Sogliano Ambiente acknowledges the local area and the community in which it operates as a fundamental pillar of its strategy for creating shared value. Every year, the profits generated are channelled into resources for the local council and its residents: in 2025, the company paid the Municipality of Sogliano al Rubicone a total of 8.6 million euros, comprising fees for the use of the landfill site and dividends; these resources fund services for families, housing policies, business support and public works within the municipal area.
Environmental compensation projects
The development plan for the Ginestreto Complex includes a comprehensive programme of returning resources to the local area: approximately 900,000 cubic metres of excavated soil will be used to restore the Ponte Rosso Quarry, with the planting of around 8,000 broad-leaved trees across 3 hectares; the area, transformed into the Parco della Pietra and featuring a 5,000-square-metre recreational zone, will be transferred free of charge to the local council upon completion of the works.
The programme also includes the creation of Parco del Vitruviano — 2 hectares with 280 new trees — and a contribution towards the new Sogliano-Santarcangelo cycle route along the Valle dell’Uso, spanning almost 29 km and linking five local municipalities.Cultural projects
Sogliano Ambiente supports local identity by contributing to museums, libraries, cultural institutions and associations, and by supporting events and initiatives that celebrate the region’s heritage, traditions and cultural life.
School Projects
The ‘Together for the Planet’ project, carried out in collaboration with the Sogliano al Rubicone State Comprehensive School, has seen Sogliano Ambiente open the doors of its facilities to local schoolchildren. During the 2025/2026 school year, the first edition of the initiative, the company welcomed Year 5 primary school classes and lower secondary school classes from the municipalities of Sogliano al Rubicone, Borghi and Roncofreddo for a series of educational visits. The project will be repeated in future school years.
For Sogliano Ambiente, engaging with local schools is a key pillar of its social commitment. Bringing young people into direct contact with waste management processes means turning the principles of the circular economy and environmental responsibility into a tangible experience and investing in the development of a community that is becoming more and more aware and focused on a waste-free future.
Our People
For Sogliano Ambiente, human capital is a strategic asset and a fundamental element for the company’s sustainable growth. Investing in people means promoting stable employment, developing skills and creating conditions that are beneficial to professional growth and organisational wellbeing.
Sogliano Ambiente employs a total of 78 people, with the workforce having grown from 69 to 78 over the last three years, and a high level of job stability, with almost all being permanent contracts.
To this end, the company is progressively stepping up its policies on training, skills development, welfare and staff development, as an integral part of its sustainability and organisational development strategy.

In 2026, the Board of Directors approved the 2026–2027 Training Plan, a two-year programme dedicated to skills development and the professional growth of the people. The Plan complements the training provided for the Integrated Quality, Safety and Environment System (SIQSA), extending its scope through courses dedicated to the development of technical, managerial, soft and digital skills, in line with the organisation’s evolution and the Company’s strategic priorities.
With the 2026–2027 Training Plan, the company reaffirms that training is a strategic lever for developing staff, building skills and supporting the organisation’s evolution, whilst promoting a culture focused on continuous improvement.Welfare
All employees are covered by the National Collective Labour Agreement applicable to their sector, with a uniform performance-related bonus for the entire workforce. The company promotes specific measures to support a healthy work-life balance, guaranteeing reduced working hours and flexible working arrangements.
With a view to the ongoing focus on people’s wellbeing, the company is also developing and expanding its corporate welfare schemes, with the aim of offering new opportunities and services to support employees and their needs.Safety
Health and safety at work are a priority for Sogliano Ambiente and an integral part of its organisational model. The UNI EN ISO 45001:2023 certification attests to the company’s commitment to ensuring a safe working environment, through a system subject to regular internal and external audits.
Health and safety training, which is exceptionally comprehensive and tailored to the company’s specific needs, even going beyond regulatory requirements, is a fundamental element of the company’s prevention system, helping to build skills, raise awareness and foster vigilance regarding risks across various operational contexts.
In 2026, Sogliano Ambiente further enhanced this approach through a highly specialised in-house safety unit, complementing the existing externally-based role, with the aim of promoting ongoing awareness, supporting managers and consolidating day-to-day oversight of health and safety issues.
The first step on a path to transparency
The Sustainability Report marks the first formal step in the process by Sogliano Ambiente of reporting on its environmental, social and economic performance. Although not currently subject to any regulatory obligations in this area, the company has chosen to voluntarily embark on this process, with the aim of increasing transparency towards its stakeholders and enhancing its ability to generate sustainable value over time.
The document was drawn up in accordance with the GRI Standards and approved by the Board of Directors on 1 October 2025.
